Home / Case Studies / Ghana Oil Mining ERP
One system, one source of truth,
for 1,500 people.
The challenge
The client was running a large-scale oil mining operation with over 1,500 employees across multiple functions, finance, procurement, HR, maintenance, and projects. But the systems holding the business together were not built for that scale.
Payroll, asset maintenance, project tracking, and financial accounting each lived in a separate legacy system with no meaningful integration between them. Data had to be manually re-entered across systems, which slowed down operations and introduced errors. Management had no consolidated view of the business, reporting meant pulling data from multiple places, reconciling it manually, and hoping it was current by the time a decision was made.
The legacy ERP had also accumulated years of historical data that was structurally inconsistent, making any migration effort non-trivial. The organisation needed a single platform that could handle the full operational complexity of a mining enterprise, and it needed the historical data to come with it, intact.
What PGI delivered
PGI-Data led a 12-month end-to-end implementation covering the full breadth of the client's operational and financial functions across 11 modules:
- General Ledger & Accounting
- Human Resource Management
- Fixed Asset Management
- Payroll
- Enterprise Asset Management & Maintenance
- Budgeting & Financial Control
- Purchasing & Inventory Management
- Sales Management
- Project Management
- Reporting & Analytics Dashboards
Three areas demanded the most rigour: data migration (500GB+ of historical records extracted, cleansed, transformed, and loaded without loss), cross-function integration (payroll, HR, procurement, and finance wired together so changes flow automatically), and executive dashboards (live consolidated view of financials, projects, workforce, and assets, in one place for the first time).
